Amirtham sweet home was first opened as ‘Meenatchi Iyer mixture kadai’ in 1946. Its unique name was invented over 1980s by A N M Ramakrishna Iyer  to distinguish the sweet shop with delicacies from its rival across the road and it’s been fondly used since then. The business has passed down through many owners over the years but it always has retained its unique and traditional characters.
